16 Kids and Counting pulled in 2.37 million (9.6%) to the broadcaster in the 9pm hour, while Channel 5's live eviction attracted 2.05m (8.3%).
Celebrity Big Brother added 245,000 on 5 +1, but Channel 4's 16 Kids and Counting managed an impressive 616k on its timeshift service.
Elsewhere in the 9pm slot, ITV's new comedy drama Great Night Out opened with 3.41m (13.9%). Panned by the critics, it lost out to Silent Witness which logged 5.31m (21.5%), but it did add a decent 338k on ITV1 +1.
Over on BBC Two, half-hour quiz shows Mastermind (2.13m) and QI (2.14m/10.3%) performed well at 8pm and 10pm respectively.
Channel 5's Ice Road Truckers got the better of Channel 4's new reality show First Time Farmers with 1.23m (5%) versus 980k (4%). On +1, First Time Farmers appealed to a further 209k while Ice Road Truckers added 178k.
The Graham Norton Show continued to sparkle at 10.35pm with 3.53m (22.7%).
Overall, BBC One edged primetime with 21.3% versus ITV1's 20.7% (+1: 0.9%). BBC Two sneaked into third place with 6.3%, beating Channel 4's 5.7% (+1: 1.1%), and Channel 5's 5.1% (+1: 0.5%).
Ruth Jones's Sky1 comedy drama Stella returned for its second run with 636k (2.6%), around half the audience recorded for last year's first series premiere.
