Mark's Music Misery
Published Sunday, Nov 24 2002, 03:14 GMT | By Emma Tingay
Mark Owen has admitted publicly that he expected to be a bigger star than Robbie Williams after the break up of Take That.
When asked which of his two bandmates he thought would be the most successful after the group disbanded - Robbie Williams or songwriter Gary Barlow, he sighed and simply replied "Me".
In a frank and honest chat that shocked his celebrity housemates, Mark, 30, opened his heart about being dropped by RCA records, spending years recording tracks that he didn't like but felt he should record just to be accepted and the state of the music industry in general.
He also revealed that while performing pop songs on stage with Take That, he'd go back to his hotel and listen to a different genres of music, such as Paul Weller and Radiohead.
But in a moment of musician comradeship, Goldie leaped up off the sofa and made two predictions - that Mark would win Celebrity Big Brother 2 and that Mark's musical career would take off again.
