Greer on Richard and Judy

Since walking from the Big Brother house almost a week ago Germaine Greer has now spoken about her experience to Richard and Judy.
Despite going into the house expecting it to be a difficult experience with moments of immense boredom and sensory deprivation Germaine wasn't expecting to have to face the bullying she encountered, especially of John. Although she disliked his apparent sexism which she described as him being "in character" and his actions "deliberately replusive", this didn't excuse the way he was treated by the cohort. She also expressed concerns about Brigitte's treatment, bringing Jackie Stallone into the house, as being "mischievious and irresponsible", although later went on to say that she was unaware at the time of Brigitte's appearences in other reality TV programmes, a fact that may have altered her views. At the time though it was something she could not condone.
Moving on to her interview with Davina, Germaine was disgusted that she was confronted with the attitude that the show was character building, giving the example of three of the housemates vomitting during the first Saturday task as one that was anything but. She re-iterated her disgust at the filth in the house, where baked on fat from BB5 was still present on the oven. This was ironic, she said, as health and safety was made so paramount during each of the tasks.
The one thing she wishes she had done is to have thought to get everyone to remove their microphones during the "revolution" last Tuesday night, after Jackie had entered the house and the weekly task was abondoned. This, she felt, would have been the easiest way to show Big Brother who was actually in control and make a stance.
More of Germaine's views can be read in her article in yesterday's Sunday Times.
