Carole investigates Cleo's background
Published Saturday, Jan 6 2007, 10:22 GMT | By Daniel Saney

Carole observed that she had "stayed in worse" as they considered their new surroundings, before deciding to learn about her fellow servant's background. "Are you middle class, working class?" she asked. "You sound middle class."
Cleo took the journalist through her time in Brazil and the United States, but didn't answer directly when asked whether she had been "wealthy". "We had a close family and I don't think anything comes close," she said.
Cleo conceded that money is "great for facilitation" but spoke scornfully of those who habitually scour Bond Street for the latest handbag. "I wouldn't know the latest handbag if it slapped me in the face," she admitted.
Meanwhile, Carole said that she was "very working class", recalling how her father had worked for the electricity board and her mother was "such a clever woman" who was "happy with her lot".
