Cheering crowds gathered in the city of Patna where they danced, waved banners, handed out garlands and shared sweets to mark the Bollywood star's success.
Pictures of the actress were seen in Hindu temples in Mumbai, according to the Daily Mail, while prayers were said in her honour.
Market traders were selling t-shirts of Shilpa and one, named Ravi, told the paper: "Shilpa has blessed us and for each t-shirt I sell I can make 20 rupees."
Meanwhile, Danielle Lloyd was apologetic about her treatment of the actress in an appearance on This Morning. "It was catty, nasty and bitchy and in the heat of the moment things came out but I never meant for one second for that to be racial," she gushed. "I'm not a racist. Shilpa is such a wonderful person, she's taught me such a lot about myself."
