Jo O'Meara tried to commit suicide last weekend, according to a report in the News of the World today.
The former S Club singer was saved by friends who rushed her to hospital. Jo's mother Barbara told the newspaper that the incident had been "a real shock".
"It's horrible. I've never seen her so bad in my whole life," she explained. "She is wasting away and is not eating. I speak to her and she tells me how she's still seeing helicopters coming out of mirrors and those sorts of things.
"She's on Prozac now and it seems to have made a difference. The drug takes 14 days to work and I think it's helping her."
O'Meara has struggled to cope with the massive backlash against her behaviour in the Celebrity Big Brother house. She was accused of bullying Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty alongside Jade Goody and Danielle Lloyd on the show last month.
