Shilpa wants Gere court order repealed
Published Tuesday, May 15 2007, 15:02 BST | By David Cribb
Shilpa Shetty has asked the Supreme Court in India to drop its charges against Richard Gere.
The actor faces a possible jail sentence after kissing Shetty in public at an AIDS awareness event in Dehli.
The Indian authorities received a number of complaints after the incident, and released a warrant for his arrest soon after.
Now Shilpa's lawyer has spoken out about the legal situation, branding it ridiculous: "The complaints are a complete abuse of the due process of law," Anand Grover said. "She is being victimised because she is a well-known personality."
