Chantelle and Preston: Our marriage is over
Published Thursday, Jun 28 2007, 18:06 BST | By Miriam Zendle
Chantelle and Preston have revealed that their marriage is over after just ten months.
Although Ordinary Boys singer Samuel Preston stormed off panel quiz Never Mind The Buzzcocks earlier this year after feeling insulted by host Simon Amstell's comments about his wife, the latest development in the pair's relationship shows that the cracks were already forming.
The pair said in a statement: "After much soul-searching and tearful discussions we have sadly decided to end our marriage...no one else is involved in our decision. We hope we can always remain friends and still love each other, but we both think we put so much pressure on one another to make our marriage work that it has ended up destroying our relationship."
Many felt that the pair had rushed into marriage after meeting on the 2006 series of Celebrity Big Brother, but both deny that this was the case, or that their marriage was purely for purposes of increasing each others' public profile.
"We know people will think we married too quickly on the back of Big Brother," they added, "but the truth is that, what anyone thinks, we did have a whirlwind romance but we were genuinely in love. We will never regret our time together, but we now both agree that we should go our separate ways. We are both young and we still have our lives in front of us."
