Galloway faces Commons suspension
Published Tuesday, Jul 17 2007, 12:34 BST | By Beth Hilton

The Respect MP – famous for arguing with Michael Barrymore on the 2006 show – is accused of breaking Parliamentary rules by taking money from Saddam Hussein's regime in Iraq.
MPs have called for him to be suspended for "concealing the true source of Iraqi funding" and damaging the "reputation of the House" in comments he made about an inquiry into the handling of his Mariam Appeal charity.
George, MP for Bethnal Green and Bow, who has always denied receiving money from Saddam Hussein, said he was being punished for the "robust way I defended myself".
He said the ban – which still has to be ratified by MPs - would be "painful" but he would carry on, adding: "They should be cutting a medal for me for my work on Iraq, not suspending me."
