The 60-year-old faced off against Toploader frontman Joe Washbourn for the judges' votes after viewers chose to save Steps star Claire Richards and Erasure singer Andy Bell at their expense.
Following a final opera showdown, Myleene Klass left Brown and Washbourn's fate in the hands of panellists Katherine Jenkins, Simon Callow, Vanessa-Mae and Rolando Villazón.
Asked for her decision first, Vanessa-Mae opted to eliminate Brown by stating: "Because one of them is a legend I expect so much more of that person."
Jenkins also voted to save Washbourn after Brown slipped up on the French lyrics of her piece, but Callow decided to spare the North Carolina-born soloist for her "great beauty and flamboyance of the performance and the personal connection".
The deciding vote then fell to head judge Villazón, who described Brown as "a pleasure to work with" and "full of life" before accepting that Washbourn had given the better performance.
Speaking to Klass after her exit, Brown accepted that she had not fully grasped the concept of singing in another language.
She said: "I feel that I've gone on a nice journey and I'm really comfortable with knowing that nobody is going to learn anything that fast."
Popstar To Operastar returns next Sunday at 8pm on ITV1.
