will.i.am may become a coach on the UK version of The Voice.

The Black Eyed Peas musician has become the latest star to be linked with a judging and mentoring role on the new BBC One talent show, according to The Sun.

"Will is 95% a done deal," a show insider is quoted as saying. "He is a big star and loves nurturing new talent.

"He shoots from the lip, and will not be afraid to tell it like it is."

Auditions for The Voice - which has been a ratings success in the US and is based on an original Dutch format called The Voice of Holland - are already underway.

Jessie J has already been officially confirmed as the show's first coach, with stars including Sir Tom Jones, Lenny Kravitz and Charlotte Church linked to the show.

It was confirmed last week that Strictly Come Dancing's long-serving executive producer Moira Ross will join independent production company Wall to Wall in January 2012.

Her responsibilities as head of entertainment at the company will include overseeing The Voice UK.

The Voice UK is expected to premiere on BBC One in early 2012.
