'The Voice' UK Holly Willoughby: 'Leah McFall Top 10 is incredible'

By
The Voice UK host Holly Willoughby has hailed finalist Leah McFall for the "incredible" feat of making the Top 40 before the show has even finished.

McFall grabbed The Voice UK's first Top 10 hit last weekend when her reworking of Gloria Gaynor's 'I Will Survive' from the quarter-final peaked at number eight in the UK singles chart based on viewer downloads alone.

Speaking to Digital Spy while launching her debut children's book School for Stars: First Term at L'Etoile at Harrods yesterday (June 20), Willoughby declared: "To chart mid-way through a series is incredible. I'm not sure that's ever happened [on a talent show] before.

"She is one of those unique artists that comes along and just blows you away. When she sang 'I Will Survive', oh my God! You don't even recognise it as that song."

Willoughby remained coy though on who she wants to win The Voice UK tomorrow (June 22), saying: "I do have two favourites, but if I told you I'd have to kill you."

Willoughby, who co-wrote School for Stars: First Term at L'Etoile with her sister Kelly, said that making the leap from presenter to author had been slightly surreal.

"It is a bit mad, but It's always been a dream of mine to write a book," she said. "I think it was nice to have something of yours that you could sit down and show [the children], read with them and enjoy together... it's nice to have many strings to my bow."

Holly and Kelly's book School for Stars: First Term at L'Etoile is available now.
