Earlier tonight, the racing pundit left Chantelle in tears after branding her and Preston reuniting as Big Brother's "final triumph". After apologising to Chantelle at the time, he later turned his attention to Preston at the smokers' bench.
"I was messing around," he explained. "We were having a great laugh and it was wrong. I apologise, I let myself down, it was wrong to do that."
Preston was understanding and stated that it was a "mad coincidence" that their wedding anniversary fell today, before John said that it was natural to get upset when events were still "raw".
"I'm happy that it's all not awkward between us," Preston continued.
"It's brilliant, I can't imagine how many couples four years on could do that," John replied. "You're civilised about it - it's tremendous."
