'Ultimate Big Brother' drops below 3m

Ultimate Big Brother dropped below 3m on Friday night, early viewing figures show.

John McCririck's eviction was seen by just 2.92m (13.6%) between 9pm and 10pm, then 2.39m (15.6%) caught the racing pundit's interview with Davina McCall.

However, Channel 4 +1 secured respective audiences of 215k and 201k for the reality show's swansong. Ultimate Big Brother had begun well, with 3.2m and 3.1m for its first two nights.

Big Brother's Big Mouth took a decent 515k (5.6%) for E4 at 11.20pm, while elsewhere on the multichannel stations James Bond film GoldenEye pulled in 759k (4.2%) for ITV2 from 9pm, and BBC Three's coverage of the Reading Festival interested 470k (3.5%) from 10.30pm.

Back on the terrestrials, a solid 3.48m (16.2%) Doc Martin repeat helped ITV1 to a primetime victory, with an audience average of 20.5% between 7pm and 11pm.

My Family - which was off-air last week to make way for the Celebrity MasterChef finale - dipped to 3.81m (17.6%), a record low for BBC One at 9pm, after which a repeat of Outnumbered amused 3.57m (16.7%).

Later on the channel, a new edition of Would I Lie To You? held a steady 2.96m (18.5%) at 10.35pm, as BBC One averaged 20.5% in primetime.

Elsewhere, Channel 4's A Place In The Sun beat Five's Police Inspectors at 8pm, with 1.31m (6.1%) to 1.07m (5%). BBC Two won the hour, as Mastermind and Gardeners' World picked up 1.69m (8%) and 1.58m (7.2%) respectively and Home Movie Roadshow mustered 1.43m (6.7%) at 9pm, while 1.31m (6.1%) chose to watch a repeat of The Mentalist on Five.

Channel 4's Pete Versus Life once again reigned ahead of Roger & Val Have Just Got In at 10pm, with 1.47m (7.5%) to 1.16m (6%). Law & Order: SVU put in 1.27m (6.9%) for Five at the same time. Channel 4 had an overall average of 8.3% [+1: 0.7%) in primetime, ahead of BBC Two, which had 6%, and Five, which took 5.3%.
