This morning, the 48 year-old broadcaster sat chatting to Chantelle in the garden about how it feels to be up for eviction.
“It’s a strange feeling, because obviously I think I’m going home today,” she explained. “So my inclination is to start thinking, 'Right, what will I do when I get home?' What will I do tomorrow, what should I do, what phone calls should I make and all that - and to start sort of planning life outside.
“But weirdly, the truth is I’d really love to stay given the chance.”
“It is a weird thing,” agreed Chantelle. “I was up last week and I personally felt like I prepared myself like I thought I was going. I just thought to myself, 'Well, if I go, then I’ve got my mum and everyone waiting for me on the outside, so how lovely'. And if I stay, how lovely, cause I want to stay. So to be honest, it’s like a win-win situation, do you know what I mean?
“But of course we’d rather stay. It’s only a few days left after that anyway.”
“Exactly,” agreed Vanessa.
“But if you mentally think that you’re going then you’re not disappointed if you do go,” said Chantelle.
“That’s why I’m trying to just keep focused on being in here while I’m here, and then appreciate going home if I go home,” explained Vanessa. “But I am absolutely flabbergasted to be thinking I wish I would stay.”
Chantelle told Vanessa that she hopes that she survives eviction.
“Thank you,” smiled Vanessa. “I mean I’d love to stay, I suppose, because Big Brother’s been such a massive part of who I think I am all these years - and who other people think I am. And so to make it through to the final would be, you know, completely extraordinarily amazing.”
“And you’ve cracked your number. You’ve done four nights now,” laughed Chantelle.
“I’m on my fifth day! Absolutely unprecedented!” exclaimed Vanessa.
“Are you okay?” joked Chantelle.
“Hang on a second. Am I mad? Am I breathing calm? Do I seem alright? My nails are still intact!” joked Vanessa. “And it's good fun - I’m liking it very much.
“It is a kind of oasis away from the real world where you just genuinely don’t know what’s happening.”
