The music mogul is believed to have signed up for the E4 show, which will replace Celebrity Big Brother.
He pulled out of I'm A Celebrity... at the last minute last month, claiming that the programme is fixed and contestants are bullied by the producers.
McLaren and stars including Little Britain’s Matt Lucas will take on the role of Big Brother in the show, setting tasks for a group of "extremely talented but ordinary" people aged between 18 and 21.

Big Brother Celebrity Hijack launches on January 3 on E4.
