Celebrity Big Brother axed for good?
Published Saturday, Jan 12 2008, 11:30 GMT | By Kimberley Dadds

TV chiefs chose to scrap the Celebrity Big Brother format for Celebrity Hijack this year after the controversy surrounding last year's show with Jade Goody and Shilpa Shetty.
Producers are now said to be worried that they will not be able to find any celebrities who would be prepared to go in the house as a result, while Celebrity Hijack has failed to bring in the viewers.
A Channel 4 insider said: "The concept of CBB is great, but it will be virtually impossible to get celebrities to sign up for the show after everything that happened with Jade and Shilpa."
All efforts are now being put into Big Brother 9 this summer to make sure it is a ratings hit. The source added: "The summer's flagship show is what started the brand in the first place, yet it's been neglected. Now is the time to hatch a plan which will turn it back into the exciting, vibrant show it once was."
