Jay: 'It's an unpopularity contest'

As the housemates struggled to come to terms with Latoya's departure, Jay explained that Big Brother evictions had nothing to do with how nice people are, and everything to do with contestants' ability to entertain the public.

Retiring to the garden to get some much-needed fresh air after the drama of the fifth eviction, John, Calista, Anthony and Jay discussed how surprised they were that Latoya had been voted out.

"I don't even know what to say, I'm speechless. Why - that's what I don't understand," puzzled John.

Anthony was equally confused, saying: "Yeah it's fair enough, but she's not a bitch, she never put anyone else down. She's such a lovely girl - so full of energy, such a nice smile and such a pretty thing. Not saying Emilia's not lovely, but Latoya never did anything wrong."

Jay had a strong opinion on the matter, blurting out: "It's an unpopularity contest."

Calista agreed, exemplifying his claim by referring to the first eviction when Jade left the house, despite there being far more boos as Victor's name was read out.

"They want baddies in here," confirmed Jay.
