They told DS: "Channel 5 has not picked up the rights for the next series. At the moment we're not intending to pick up the show."

Once Upon a Time debuted in the UK in April 2012 and pulled in a strong audience for Channel 5, with 2.2 million tuning in to the first episode.

The ABC show's 2011 series premiere attracted 12.8 million viewers, and this season premiered to 8.52m viewers in September 2013.

It is expected to return to the network in March 2014 following its mid-season break.

The drama's spinoff Once Upon a Time in Wonderland was announced earlier this year and premiered in October with a cast including Iggy Pop, John Lithgow and Keith David.
