It was feared that the two period drama hits would be put up against each other head-to-head in a ratings battle by the BBC and ITV.
The two shows have been among the biggest ratings hits of 2012 and reports suggested that the BBC may want to dent the viewing figures for Downton by lining up Jessica Raine and Miranda Hart's East End drama against it.
However, the shows have been shifted in the final schedules and viewers will now be able to watch both.
Call the Midwife airs at 7.30pm on BBC One. Downton Abbey airs at the later time of 8.45pm on ITV1.
Speaking at the press launch of Call the Midwife earlier this month, Raine claimed that any move to put the two shows against each other in the schedules would be "stupid".
