Shaun Ryder: 'Downton Abbey is a glamorous soap opera'

Shaun Ryder has said that he will be watching the Downton Abbey Christmas special.

Meanwhile, his Happy Mondays bandmate Bez told ShortList that he "can't f**king stand TV" because "most of it is bollocks and s**t".

Asked if he will be watching the seasonal special, Ryder said: "Absolutely, the missus loves it. I don't mind it either. It's a glamorous soap opera.

"We'll also be watching plenty of the Disney Channel - that's what happens when you have daughters aged 3 and 4.

"They even made me watch The Twilight Saga the other day. All four of them on the bounce, but they're okay - they're just Romeo and Juliet with fangs."

Quizzed on whether Christmas dinner will include canapés, Bez said: "I will definitely be having cannabis.

"Oh, canapés. The pastry stuffed with a bit of fish or whatnot? I don't think so, no."
