With four kids (five if you count Tom's bratty lovechild) and counting, life chez Scavo is, at best, rather manic. Last month, we caught up with the ridiculously fertile heads of household Lynette and Tom, who informed us that their new arrival marks more chaos for the clan. Recently, we made a little time for Parker to see what lies ahead for our favourite Desperate Housewives family.
How did it feel when you first joined Desperate Housewives?
"It was great! The first couple of days I was a little intimidated but everyone was so great. They welcomed me and it's turned into a great experience. It was crazy. You're working with all these experienced actors and it's the first time you're on a big set and the first time you're going to air on national television!"
What's it like working alongside Felicity Huffman and Doug Savant?
"It's amazing. I always love to listen to anything Felicity says, to see what she's thinking, what her methods are - I think she's a very methodic and analytical actress who I can really learn a lot from. Doug I love to joke with - he's just great - tons of fun to hang around with. So are most people on that set but him especially!"
What's coming up for the Scavos?
"We have another baby on the way so it's going to be a pretty cramped house!"
Is Lynette expected to give birth this season?
"I assume so - I haven't read anything storyline-wise but I think probably by the end of the season we should have another Scavo."
How will things change when Lynette gives birth?
"I have to say, Kendall Applegate who plays my sister was amazing when she ran away from home so I think maybe there's some of that sibling jealousy when the baby's born and we're getting pushed to the side. But hopefully we can all be supportive and it'll offer a few good dramatic scenes."
Will we be seeing Parker stepping more into the limelight?
"I hope so. A couple of weeks ago he tried to pay the neighbour for sex so we'll see if he does some more crazy stuff!"
What would be your ideal storyline?
"Maybe a love affair with Gabrielle! That would be a good thing!"
Are you and Parker similar at all?
"I'd like to think so - he's pretty smart, so definitely in that sense! But I gotta say I think I'm a little more stylish than Parker! Have you seen some of the ties he wears on the show? They're not in such great taste, I'll say."
What do you think of Drea De Matteo's character's story arc?
"She's been a brilliant addition to the cast. I thought that them bringing her on was one of the best things they could do. She's amazing and the mob kind of thing has always been of interest to me in general. She was a really good addition to the ensemble."
She's leaving at the end of the season. What do you think of that decision?
"There's been a lot of speculation about that for a long time on set but with our show you never know. We thought we'd be here for seven seasons, now we're probably going to ten. Nothing is certain. If she goes it will be sad for all of us but we've definitely enjoyed all the time we've had working with her and if she stays it's even better."
John Barrowman's coming on for a guest stint...
"Does he? I very much look forward to that! It'll be interesting..."
