The channel will air the second run of the show in 2014, following a rights deal to broadcast the series in the UK.
The supernatural thriller - which draws to a conclusion on Sunday (July 28) - will begin production on its second series in early 2014, with a UK broadcast on Channel 4 expected to land later in the year.
On average, some 1.8 million UK viewers have tuned into the show's debut series each week, with a 7.1% audience share during its 9pm Sunday slot.
Series two will consist of eight hour-long episodes once again, but additional details about the plot are unknown at this time.
The Returned, written by Fabrice Gobert, Emmanuel Carrère and Fabien Adda, follows a group of men, women and children in a small Alpine village who suddenly emerge, unaware that they have been dead for several years.
Channel 4 celebrated the beginning of its first subtitled series in 20 years by airing a full advertisement break in the French language last month.
