'Life On Mars' scoops BAFTA Audience Award
Time travelling cop show Life On Mars picked up the prestigious Pioneer Audience Award for the Best Programme of 2006 at the BAFTA Television Awards on Sunday.

Cast and crew from the recently concluded BBC One series, including John Simm and Philip Glenister, were on hand to receive the accolade, voted for by the public. Life On Mars triumphed over the likes of The Royle Family and The Vicar of Dibley in the category.

At last year's BAFTA ceremony another cult time-travelling show had the viewing public voting in their droves as Doctor Who scooped the Audience Award.

A Life On Mars spin-off entitled Ashes To Ashes is set to commence filming later this summer, with Glenister reprising his famed role as the politically incorrect detective Gene Hunt.
