S01E05
So - it was the girl all along! The clever plot twist featuring Claire effectively functioning as ‘the potion’ is a fine subversion of the classic Jekyll and Hyde narrative, funnily enough written by one of the characters on this week’s episode! For Mark Gatiss excels in a cameo as the author, which brings home the intertextuality of the series.

There’s still a bit of unease in the pairing of James Nesbitt and Gina Bellman though, with the latter’s tendency to bring out comic meanings in the most tense dramatic scenes a real distraction.

Overall though, the plot has well and truly thickened - especially now we’re free of the misconceived Benjamin character. The finale is finely set up with Hyde desperate to reclaim ‘his’ family and wreak vengeance on the Institute…
