First Look: The Doctor in 'Sarah Jane'

Published Monday, Sep 28 2009, 00:02 BST | By Neil Wilkes | 31 comments
As we all know, David Tennant will be showing up as The Doctor in the upcoming third series of The Sarah Jane Adventures. There's still a month and a day to go until we see it but, seeing as we're an impatient lot here at Tube Talk, we thought we'd have a sneaky peek at it RIGHT NOW!

Has The TARDIS demolished Mr. Smith?!?

No, it's the back of the attic. Anyway, SJ is pleased to see The Doctor, but he seems preoccupied.

The Time Lord gives The Lost Boy a few words of wisdom.

The Doctor appears in episodes five and six of the new series, which will air on October 29 and October 30 on BBC One. The story - titled 'The Wedding Of Sarah Jane Smith', is penned by Gareth Roberts ('The Shakespeare Code', 'The Unicorn and the Wasp') and also guest stars Nigel Havers as Sarah Jane's groom-to-be.

The BBC has just released these synopses of the two episodes and the story as a whole:

Overall story summary: "Sarah Jane has met Peter Dalton and wants him to become part of her life; to become a father to Luke perhaps. But Clyde thinks Peter is hiding a secret or two of his own, especially when he and Rani find an empty house where Peter says his home should be..."

Part one summary: "The Doctor returns on the happiest day of Sarah Jane's life - but a deadly trap is waiting for them all! As the strands of a clever and careful plan draw together, can even a Time Lord save Sarah Jane, on the day of her arch-enemy's greatest triumph?"

Part two summary: "The Doctor joins the battle - but is it too late to save both Sarah Jane and the Earth itself? As the power of the Pantheon of Discord grows in strength, the old friends are separated across different time zones, and must fight to save each other - but for one, there's a terrible price to pay."

I can't wait for the Doctor to meet Luke and vice versa. They're both as clever as each other (probably), even if the Doctor actually has more knowledge, and they've both felt completely out of place. Votes for Luke to become a companion?

I am a massive fan of Dr who and The sarah jane adventures and I can't wait for series 3. I think the best episode in series 3 will be the one with The doctor in.

This is DT's last recorded appearance as the 10th Doctor, shot after his regeneration for the specials, right?

Brilliant! I cannot wait to see Luke, Rani and Clyde's reactions to the inside of the TARDIS! =D

It will neat to finally see the Doctor interact with Luke; I imagine Luke would want to time travel when he is older.
Kat, England, on September 28th, 2009
:) maybe she wont actually get married afterall :D it would be weird if she did.
Will Hazelwood, London, on September 28th, 2009
I am looking forward to David Tennant being in the series, but I hope it is not Clyde who has to pay a price!

This sounds so exciting. Although I don't watch Sarah Jane, I will watch this! Having the Doctor included is going to pull so many new viewers in, especially as he's about to leave.
