The Ashes To Ashes star told The Mirror that his punishing work schedule has prompted him to consider taking a break.
He said: "The shoot for ITV's The Last Van Helsing was 12 weeks, Ashes To Ashes was 22 weeks, so I am pretty acted out, really.
"I'm fed up. Ashes goes again in September, so I need a nice summer break. I need to get away from it and go back into nice suburban oblivion - sounds quite appealing. You'd think the public would have had enough of me - I think they must be fed up, quite frankly."
