BBC defends 'Ashes To Ashes' episode
Published Saturday, Feb 23 2008, 16:22 GMT | By Ben Rawson-Jones

The Ashes To Ashes episode revolved around a man targeting prostitutes in 1981 London and was screened on Thursday at 9pm - hours after forklift truck driver Steve Wright was convicted of murdering five prostitutes.
A BBC spokesman stated: "Due to the fantastical nature of Ashes To Ashes, the fact that it is set in a different era and different location, we believe that there is little similarity between the Suffolk murders and the plotline."
However, despite the sensitive subject matter in the episode, and its timing, the BBC only received one official complaint from a viewer.
