Ashes creator: 'Gene Hunt is a good man'
Published Thursday, Feb 28 2008, 16:27 GMT | By Ben Rawson-Jones

Pharoah told Radio Times that Hunt "is a good man... he just has an unfortunate manner". He explained: "He would be as courageous policing homosexuals or black people as he would anyone else."
"He has a way with language that's almost Shakespearean," added Pharoah. "In Episode Two, he was talking about Charles and Di's wedding and he said, 'There will be no hiccups between now and the twanging of the royal hymen'. Obviously that's crude, but it's also rather poetic."
