Hawes says Macfadyen is a big fan of 'Ashes'

The actress, who plays DI Alex Drake in the Life On Mars spinoff, said Macfadyen was eager to star in the show after watching the first episode.
"Matthew watched episode one and just said 'I'd love to be in this!'" Hawes told Grazia.
"He plays a Brummie guy with a mullet - such a good look. And he has OCD. His character sits in a bath of baked beans for a year to raise money for children in Botswana. Then someone steals the money."
Hawes also said her three children were frequent visitors to the Ashes set.
"They came on set quite a lot. It was like an Ashes To Ashes creche," admitted Hawes.
The former Spooks star recently hit out at the "sad" state of celebrity culture in the UK.
