S01E02: 'Valiant'
What wonders are in store for the young sorcerer and his cohorts in the second episode of the BBC's lavish new production? Read on for a few teasers and one magical red herring in the spoiler cauldron...

There's a tournament in Camelot presided over by the King, with a prize of 5,000 gold coins for the winner. Prince Arthur is the reigning champion and is competing again.

One of the knights, called Valiant, has a secret weapon in the shape of a shield that contains voice-commanded snakes.

A live mouse is captured by Valiant for dinner.

After winning a jousting contest to grab a place in the tournament's final, Valiant enters the local Camelot tavern and asks for two pints of lager and a bowl of potato chippings.

Merlin chops off a head.

A stone dog in a wheelbarrow is key to saving Prince Arthur from death.

Guinevere polishes Prince Arthur's helmet.

The winner is to accompany Lady Morgana to the post-tournament feast, but she tells Guinevere that she wants Valiant to win ahead of Arthur.

Gaius cracks Merlin's shoulder and is angry when the young man uses magic to do some washing.
