'Survivors' holds solid audience

The penultimate episode of Survivors drew 5.04m (22.2%) last night, easily winning the 9pm slot for BBC One.

The drama added 200k week-on-week, taking its series-to-date average to 5.37m (22.1%). On ITV1 at the same time, documentary Sleep Walkers: Secrets Of The Night could only muster 2.66m (11.7%), just ahead of the 2.5m (11%) who tuned in for Five's CSI: Miami.

On Channel 4 at 9pm, Country House Rescue delivered a decent 2.34m (10.3%) and on BBC Two, a robotic-themed Horizon interested 1.21m (5.3%).

Earlier, the latest Holby City brought in 5.86m (25.4%) to BBC One in the 8pm hour, seeing off the 4.33m (18.8%) for Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? on ITV1.

BBC Two's Indian Food Made Easy appealed to 1.65m (7.3%), then the second episode of Nigella's Christmas Kitchen had 2.61m (11.1%), albeit 1m down on Monday's opener.

Channel 4 pulled in 1.67m (7.3%) with How To Look Good Naked and Five's Combat Chefs drew 1.05m (4.6%).

EastEnders notched up the day's best numbers, with 6.82m (29.6%) tuning in at 7.30pm. A further 1.29m (7.4%) watched on BBC Three at 10pm. The soap saw off the challenge of an hour-long Emmerdale, which averaged 6.57m (29.2%) for the 7pm hour.

Hollyoaks had 1.69m (8.1%) for Channel 4 at 6.30pm, then 749k (3.9%) for E4 at 7pm (+1: 107k, 0.5%). On Five, Neighbours had 1.48m (8.9%) and Home & Away had 953k (4.9%).

BBC One held its primetime lead with an average share of 24.2% (last week: 26.4%) to ITV1's 18% (15.5%). Channel 4 was third with 7.1% (7.4%), followed by Five with 6.8% (6%) and BBC Two on 6% (7.8%).

ITV2 had success in primetime with a screening of Bridget Jones: The Edge Of Reason. The comedy sequel pulled in 931k (5.4%) between 9pm and 11.10pm, with an additional 156k (1.3%) watching on ITV2+1.
