'Glee' makes impressive UK premiere

The first episode of the musical comedy, which stars Jayma Mays, Jane Lynch and Matthew Morrison, pulled in a respectable 1.14m (4.2%) for E4 during the 9pm hour, making it the most-watched programme on the multichannel stations. The second instalment, which aired immediately afterwards, drew 913k (4.6%).
Elsewhere last night, Law & Order: UK returned to 5.65m (21%) for ITV1, but was beaten in the 9pm hour by BBC One's Hustle, which took 5.86m (21.8%) and won the hour.
The British Family interested 2.62m (9.8%) for BBC Two, 1.57m (5.9%) watched Five's Paul Merton In Europe, and Channel 4's Generation XXL logged 1.24m (4.6%).
Earlier, at 8pm, Dispatches had 620k (2.3%) for Channel 4, Five's Police Interceptors grabbed 955k (3.5%), and University Challenge and Delia Through The Decades drew 3.35m (12.2%) and 3.55m (13%) for BBC Two.
Panorama put in 2.65m (9.7%) for BBC One at 8.30pm, while the half-hour The Lakes managed 4.42m (16.1%) for ITV1 at 8pm.
The latest from the Celebrity Big Brother house attracted 2.9m (15.5%) to Channel 4 at 10pm.
Overall, ITV1 came top during primetime with an average share of 25.4% compared to BBC One's 22.8%. BBC Two was third with 8.3%, followed by Channel 4 with 5.6% (0.5%) and Five's 3.6%.
