'Glee' continues strong ratings streak

Glee was the most-watched programme on the multichannel stations last night, early viewing figures show.

The 9pm screening of episode four drew a respectable 989k (3.8%), up around 167k on last week's performance.

A further 297k (1.6%) watched an hour later on E4+1, taking the total audience to around 1.3m.

Also on the multichannel stations, ITV2's Billie And The Real Belle Bare All pulled in 344k (1.7%) between 10pm and 10.30pm.

Elsewhere, Panorama logged 2.89m (11%) for BBC One at 8.30pm, then the audience climbed to 5.05m (19.5%) during the 9pm screening of Hustle.

Over on BBC Two, University Challenge and Delia Through The Ages took 2.92m (11.3%) and 2.76m (10.5%) during the 8pm hour, and 1.8m (7%) tuned in for The British Family at 9pm.

ITV1's The Lakes grabbed 3.95m (15.3%) at 8pm, then Law & Order: UK had 5.09m (19.7%) at 9pm.

The 8pm screening of Britain's Big Freeze took 2.03m (7.8%) for Channel 4, then at 9pm, 2.59m (10%) watched the latest update from Celebrity Big Brother, with a further 534k (2.9%) on timeshift. Julianna Margulies-fronted US drama The Good Wife opened to 1.43m (7.5%) at 10pm.

A repeat of Police Interceptors and Paul Merton In Europe drew 503k (1.9%) and 1.36m (5.3%) at 8pm and 9pm respectively on Five.

Overall, ITV1 came top during primetime with an average share of 25.7% compared to BBC One's 21.4%. Channel 4 was third with 7.1% (+1: 1.2%), followed by BBC Two with 6.7% and Five's 3.3%.
