'Glee' hits season high of 1.2 million

Glee hit a new season high last night, according to early viewing figures.

The seventh episode of the musical comedy, which saw Sue try to break up the glee club, pulled in a respectable 1.21m (4.9%) for E4, with a further 293k (1.6%) tuning in on E4+1.

The previous high was for the pilot episode, which logged 1.13m (4.3%) on Monday, January 11.

Elsewhere at 9pm, Law & Order: UK ended its second run with 5.6m (22.6%), coming top during its timeslot. Its nearest rival, BBC One's Cars, Cops and Criminals managed 4.21m (17%).

Paul Merton In Europe had 1.77m (7.2%) for Five, 1.19m (4.8%) watched the penultimate instalment of Tower Block Of Commons on Channel 4, and BBC Two's Generation Jihad took 690k (2.8%).

Earlier, at 8pm, Dispatches: Kids Don't Count drew 820k (3.1%) for Channel 4, and Five's The Gadget Show was seen by 1.09m (4.2%). University Challenge and Raymond Blanc: Kitchen Secrets interested 3.06m (11.7%) and 2.47m (9.5%) for BBC Two.

Panorama drew 2.51m (9.7%) for BBC One at 8.30pm and ITV1's half-hour visit to The Lakes put in 4.23m (16.2%) at 8pm.

Overall, ITV1 dominated primetime with an average share of 26.1% to BBC One's 19.6%. BBC Two was third with 7.6%, followed by Five's 4.9% and Channel 4 with 3.6% (+1: 0.5%).
