New 'Glee' continues to sparkle

The musical comedy averaged 1.67m (6.4%) for E4 in the 9pm hour, by far the biggest multichannel audience of the night. A further 320k (1.7%) tuned in an hour later.
On BBC One, Silent Witness brought in 7.1m (27.3%) in the 9pm hour, beating The Biggest Loser with 3.82m (14.7%) on ITV1.
Earlier, The Lakes entertained 3.88m (15%) on ITV1 from 8pm. The One Show grabbed 5.21m (22.6%) on BBC One from 7pm, before Inside Out lured 3.8m (15.6%). Panorama: Britain's Missing Dads pulled in 3.12m (12%) from 8.30pm.
Over on BBC Two, Simon King's Shetland Diaries took 1.25m (5.3%) from 7pm. University Challenge and Baking Made Easy mustered 3.06m (11.8%) and 2.46m (9.4%) respectively in the 8pm hour. Horizon: What Is Reality? educated 1.84m (7.1%) in the 9pm hour, before new comedy Episodes amused 1.51m (7.4%).
Channel 4's Birth Of Britain fetched 1.36m (5.2%) from 8pm and 181k (0.7%) an hour later. It was followed by One Born Every Minute, which had 2.29m (8.8%) and 444k (2.4%) on timeshift. Alan Carr: Chatty Man returned with 1.37m (7.6%) from 10pm and 186k (2%) on +1.
How Do They Do It? entertained 612k (2.5%) on Channel 5 from 7.30pm, before Emergency Bikers fetched 910k (3.5%) in the 8pm hour. A screening of Eraser grabbed 1.33m (6.3%) from 9pm.
Overall, ITV1 narrowly won primetime with 23.5% against BBC One's 23.4%. BBC Two came third with 7.4%, followed by Channel 4 with 6.1% (+1: 0.9%) and Channel 5 with 4.2%.
