11.27am: Feel free to add any comments as we go along using the form below. Jensen, who's directing the Bobby-centric fourth episode of the new season, has just introduced clips from said episode.
11.28am: We're watching a scene between Bobby and Crowley, where they're arguing over the deal he made.
11.29am: The moderator introduces the panelists: ep/showrunner Sera Gamble, creator/ep Eric Kripke, Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, Misha Collins (Castiel), Jim Beaver (Bobby), ep Ben Edlund.
11.31am: Kripke on his future involvement: "I think I'm the official loving gentle pain in Sera and Bob [Singer]'s asses. It felt like the right time. There was a sense of how the show was going to end. when we were in the middle of season five and it looked like it was going to continue - I want the show to continue forever - but I felt strongly that the story had to end, so I said 'let's just end it', then the next season will be like a sequel to a movie. We won't be weighted under by the same mythology."
11.33am: Kripke says he's around to make sure the show still "falls in tonal parameters".
11.34am: Gamble on the new season: "There are more monsters this season. The last couple seasons has been a lot of apocalypse stories, we got epic, then we were like 'we really wanna shoot some monsters in the face', so we're [doing that] and for the first time our myhtology loops monsters in."
11.36am: Jensen on directing: "It was a lot different than I'm used to. As an actor I've been approaching these scripts and only having to make creative decisions on one character, but as a director you have to do that for every word on every page. It was very cool. "
11.37am: Jared on how Sam gets out of Hell: "I'd love to know too. I have absolutely no idea. That's my answer."
11.38am: Misha on Castiel's role going forward: "I still don't quite know. What little I know is that Heaven is like post-Soviet Russia, just to make it boring, the government has collapsed, nukes falling into the wrong hands. This upsets Castiel and he's trying to form a coalition up there. What does that make me - Yeltsin?"
11.39am: Jim: "The way this works, Hell will probably freeze over before Bobby gets a girlfriend. Bobby and Crowley are gonna have their confrontation. I can pretty much assure you that the kissing days between Bobby and Crowley are over."
11.41am: Edlund says there will be a "fairy" episode. "We have to be very careful - little people will be involved. I'll be on pins and needles until we get our defamation suit out of the way. I see a moment where perhaps the boys have to fight a tiny pinprick of light that is ultimately Tinkerbell."
11.43am: Gamble on a long-term female character: "We have a couple female characters who have survived so far this season. I don't think we've had a character who's lived on this show, period. There's a female character we're introducing who's a relative of Sam and Dean's, a Campbell.. we're not delineated by gender. You're deadbeat on Supernatural."
11.45am: Kripke on the Japanese animated project: "It's super super cool, that they're making episodes of the show we don't have to work on. And because it's animated, it gets to have all sorts of crazy stuff we can't do live action. These two guys are doing voices for a couple of the episodes." He motivates the crowd to demand its release in the US.
11.46am: Kripke on the Chuck-is-God theory: "We're not going to give any answer, it's completely open to interpretation."
11.47am: Jensen on directing: "I don't consider myself a director. I got lucky because I worked with Jim, who carried the weight of the [episode]." Plans for others to direct an episode? Doesn't seem to be much enthusiasm.
11.49am: Jim on Jensen's directing debut: "I thought about waiting in my trailer for 30 minutes but it went too far against my ethics. I remember the first setup, he said 'I think you should come over here, pick up the phone' and I said 'I know how to pick up the phone!' Seriously speaking, I've been doing this for 312 years and I've worked with a lot of really, really good directors and I've never felt any more secure and well guided as an actor than I have by Jensen Ackles."
11.51am: Any chance of Jeffrey Dean Morgan coming back? Gamble: "Have you seen that guy's schedules? We love him, we love the character, we're wide open. Of course we are, we're not stupid! But he's a very busy man." Ackles: "Come back to us Jeff!" Gamble: "Mitch Pileggi is coming back. He's got a very patriarchal kind of vibe."
11.54am: Audience questions. Jared on the brothers' bond: "We were pretty good friends off the top. Also the writing, it rings so true with brotherly love."
11.55am: Kripke on how the five-year plan was tweaked: "Absolutely. Had it been a true series finale, without elaborating further, there wouldn't be as many living characters as there are. I had a vision of what the endpoint would be, but the Lucifer-Michael story ended as I planned it to end. So 70%, 80% of it is what I would have done anyway." I asked Kripke this question in our press interviews just before this panel and he said 50%.
11.56am: Those interviews should be online tomorrow, by the way.
11.59am: Question about if we'll see Ghostfacers again. Gamble: "It's purely a question of the story being pitched in the right way at the right time. We love them." Kripke: "I'm sure we'll figure it out."
12.00pm: Fave episode question. Jensen: "We've done 107 episodes and you want me to pick one?" Jared: "I love the premiere and the finale of a season, because it's always starting something and wrapping it up. They always excite me." Misha: "I love the one where you were chasing this monster kind of demony-thing. It was just so good! The Impala was in it."
12.02pm: Jensen: "I like the funny ones, like 'Changing Channels'. Actually I really loved 'Monster Movie' - that was a lot of fun."
12.03pm: Kripke: "I put a lot of love into 'Swansong'. It was really bitter sweet for me. It was a chance - every issue that I personally thought the show was about, to be able to wrap it up and talk about it... all this mythology came together and I was so proud of it. It's what I wanted it to be! Then it aired and I went online 'time to see how the people loved it' and they were like 'what a piece of shit! Screw Kripke!' I had this moment, before I started laughing about it, where I was like 'I'm so misunderstood'!"
12.05pm: Jensen on Dean's development next season: "We pick up a year later. He's domesticated, living a somewhat normal life. It'll be how he gets pulled back into this situation and dealing with the past." Gamble: "You said it. It's that."
12.08pm: Calls for Jensen's shirt to be removed.
12.09pm: Final question: fave monster of the week? Jared: "I really do love the shapeshifters. It's a really cool dynamic." Jensen: "I'm looking forward to killing some vampires properly this season. There's a lot of vampires going on these days. I'd like to show people how it's done properly. Cut this pasty, waify shit out."
12.11pm: The moderator closes out the panel - but there's more. Gag reel from the new DVD. Thanks for joining us! We're back at 1.30pm for the Glee panel!
