Welcome to the Dollhouse

If you still don't know what Dollhouse is, quite frankly you should be ashamed of yourself. But do read on.
The series - first previewed on Tube Talk quite a while back - is the latest project from Buffy legend Whedon. It's set in a slightly creepy place called the Dollhouse, which is home to a number of 'Dolls' - people who have their memories wiped on a regular basis before being imprinted with new memories and/or personalities. The Dolls are then sent out on private missions - some of which are highly illegal and dangerous...
In anticipation of its arrival, here's a quick guide to who's who in the Dollhouse:
- The show focuses on lead Doll Echo, played by Eliza Dushku, who is slowly becoming aware of what's happening to her. And that spells big trouble for the big bosses
- Each Doll needs a handler. Enter Boyd Langton as Echo's bit of muscle
- Who runs the Dollhouse? That would be the cold-hearted Adelle DeWitt
- The crazy genius behind the mechanics of the Dollhouse is scientist Topher Brink
- Sierra is the house's newest Doll, and she's become good friends with the aforementioned Echo
- One person posing a major threat to the scheme is FBI agent Paul Ballard - but can he expose the truth? And what exactly is the truth?
Dollhouse premieres in the UK Tuesday at 9pm on Sci Fi.

I started to watch them got to #5 and was completely bored, over rated, Joe 90 is far better thats where this idea is from, brain scanning just watch Joe instead, Joe does it far far better.

it has a lot of potential -- i'll admit it's sort of a casserole of whedon shows -- buffy, angel, firefly, plus battlestar galactica -- not just because of the actors but in plot and personality of the characters. that said, this show has a lot of potential and i think it can go far. the first series of buffy wasn't very good either and it became a brilliant hit. so hopefully this show, whilst a little wobbly to start, will take off and be brilliant.

Fantastic series. Starts slightly weakly, but gets SO good. Superb acting from all. And: IT'S BEEN RENEWED FOR A SECOND SEASON!

I love this show but some of the earlier episodes could be seen as drawn out by some viewers. I hope that they stick with it as it becomes awesome from episode 6 (where Joss had more control and wasn't interfered with by executives, which caused them to make a new pilot episode). Since it's on Sci-fi I worry they might cut out a bit to make it fit into normal hour timeslot with ad breaks. I'm soooo happy it managed to get a second series.

I had to watch the 6th episode over and over again as I couldn't believe how awesome it was! Changes the whole thing round from a week-by-week story arc to something huge. Definitely worth sticking with, can't wait for the DVD to see the 13th, as yet unaired, episode.

This show is great, Not in the calibre of Lost and season 1 of Prison break but the last couple of episodes are fantastic. The 'real' character personality that Elisha Dushku plays is very crap and boring but everything else is great, Also fans of Battlestar Galactica can see Tamioh Penikat (Helo) and Mark Sheppard (Romo Lampkin) in the series!

Also seen the show, it's brilliant. Can't wait to re-watch it on Sci Fi - go that channel! It's been picked up for another 13 eps too - so well done Fox for taking a chance.

I agree with what other say, sitck with it! The first 5 episode are very slow and generic, but after that things get a kick start and the show comes into its own. PS its just got renewed for a second season!!

I have seen all 12 eps broadcast and LOVED the series, the finale was just brilliant and left me wanting a LOT more. Have to say, though, BAD DS for the pic at the head of the column which includes such a MASSIVE spoiler, that isn't revealed in the series until around ep 4!!!

Have to say, having seen the entire first season... this is really one worth sticking with. Although some of the episodes are a little slow and not entirely to the point (although sometimes, they become pretty interesting), once you get half way through the series, it is so quick paced, well written and always twisting and turning that in reality, 'Dollhouse' should be a surefire hit. But as with USA TV, it is a dangerous game, some may ask hadn't Joss W learnt from the past with FOX after the 'Firefly' debacle... I have to say that I would be really upset if they don't renew the show as I am sure there is so much more to cover and some real potential. LOVE 'DOLLHOUSE'!

Having watched the whole series I can say that it is worth sticking with… there are a couple of weak episodes but then again the first series of Buffy wasn’t actually pure gold… and Angel first set was a tad rough. This has legs, Amy Acker is great as ever. Eliza initially appears too wooden, but that’s kind of the point, you don’t really get to see the real her. The overall arc of the series is great and the last few episodes are brillian. Between this, Lost and Terminator American TV can be daring, bit brave and different… Still hate them for cancelling Life which is probably the best series no one really saw…

Unfortunately I think this is likely to go the same way as Firefly. Review and reaction is distinctly mixed in the US so far and the show is currently on hold awaiting a decision from Fox on whether to renew or not. So perhaps better not to get into it just yet and wait to see if it does get picked up.

All I can say to anyone who hasn't seen this show... watch, and stay with it. The first episodes are good, interesting and fun - but the show becomes INCREDIBLE from the sixth episode onwards. This show should be huge. It is brilliant. I agree, Bryn. Well said! -Dan
