The Everything Is Borrowed rapper made the announcement via his Twitter account, in a post that suggested he will be joining new Doctor Matt Smith in the next series of the BBC sci-fi programme.
"You wouldn't believe the week I've had," Skinner said. "I can't talk about it but let's just say I got a part in Doctor Who."
However, Skinner then removed the message shortly afterwards, declaring: "And just like that the tweet is deleted." In its place, he posted the new podcast from The Streets.
The new series of Doctor Who is scheduled to air in 2010, following three specials due this year. The Waters Of Mars will broadcast in November, while two subsequent programmes that will see current Doctor David Tennant leave the show will air around Christmas.
