'Who' tried to exterminate Thatcher in '80s?

Sylvester McCoy, who played The Doctor from 1987 to 1989, has spoken of a ploy from the drama's "angry young writers" to stir up opposition against Thatcher.
He told The Guardian: "We were young, politically-motivated and it seemed the right thing to do. Our feeling was that Margaret Thatcher was far more terrifying than any monster the Doctor had encountered."
However, a spokesperson for the BBC has since dismissed the Scottish actor's claims.
They stated: "This is the first we've heard of this and given that 20 years have passed, we find this strange."
