Smith: 'Karen's as mad as a box of cats'

Matt Smith has said that it would be a mistake for him to have a romantic relationship with Karen Gillan.

Gillan will debut as The Doctor's companion Amy Pond in the upcoming series of Doctor Who when Smith embarks on his run in the lead role this Easter.

Smith told The Guardian of his co-star: "She's very beautiful, mad as a box of cats. In a brilliant way... We're both pretty mad, I think, which is why it's cool."

When asked if he fancies Gillan, Smith replied: "Me, Matt Smith, or The Doctor? [The Doctor?] Well, you'll have to see, won't you? [And Matt Smith?] Noooh!

"She's my mate, Kaz, I just take the mick out of her every day... She's a beautiful woman, you know, but we work together - that would be an error. That would be an error!"
