The 27-year-old actor, who took over from David Tennant as The Doctor, explained that he used the literary experiments as a way of creating a bond with his new character.
Smith is quoted by The Mirror as saying: "I wanted to feel like Doctor Who, understand where he'd come from. So I wrote stories of The Doctor and Einstein in Egypt which focused on their roles in the creation of the Pyramids.
"I had six months prep before we began filming so it gave me time to write quite a few stories."
Smith's first episode in the iconic role will air on BBC One on April 3. The instalment will also see the debut of Karen Gillan as The Doctor's new companion Amy Pond.
