Alex Kingston has admitted that Doctor Who used to scare her.

Kingston will reprise her role as River Song in the next Doctor Who episode but admitted that she still remembers being terrified by the Daleks, PA reports.

"I have quite a few favourite episodes but the ones that haunted me as a child... there was one where the Daleks invaded the London Underground," she said.

"And still if I'm standing waiting for a Tube, I look down the hole and I can see the Daleks coming through - I still have that."

However, Kingston explained that she loved being scared by the programme.

"I used to watch Doctor Who through a crack in the door," she said. "I would drive my mother crazy because she would just say, 'Oh, turn it off if you get so scared!' but no, no, I want to watch it. But that's children. That's how you learn to conquer your fears and things by sort of safely putting yourself into that thrill zone."

Doctor Who continues tomorrow at 6.20pm on BBC One and at 9/8c on BBC America in the US.
