Richard Curtis has revealed that his children played a part in the writing of his Doctor Who story 'Vincent and the Doctor'.

The writer told Doctor Who Magazine that writing the episode had a large impact on his family life.

He explained: "During the summer I was writing it, we had lots of prints of Van Gogh paintings up round the house - and a board with index cards going through the plot, scene by scene - and both of my big kids came up with ideas."

Curtis also admitted that he would be willing to write for the show again.

"If I ever have an idea that I think would be suitable and best done in Doctor Who again, of course, it would be an honour and delight to do another."

'Vincent and the Doctor' airs this Saturday at 6.40pm on BBC One.
