Some of The Doctor's most beautifully-crafted adventures have been those that blend history with science fiction - 'The Fires of Pompeii', 'Father's Day', 'The Girl in the Fireplace' - and this week's story, 'Vincent and the Doctor', is no exception.
Penned by Blackadder/Four Weddings/Comic Relief creator Richard Curtis, the episode sees The Doctor and Amy travelling back in time to meet the artist Vincent van Gogh, before helping him battle both his inner and outer demons.
