Who's 'Hungry Earth' draws 4.4 million

'The Hungry Earth', which featured the return of the Silurians, drew the sci-fi drama's lowest audience since its return in 2005. Who was moved to the earlier-than-usual time of 6.15pm to make way for the Over The Rainbow finale.
Andrew Lloyd Webber's talent search ended with 5.61m (34%) from 7pm, fetching another 6.39m (30.2%) for its results show at 9pm. The National Lottery: In It To Win It 2012 - sandwiched in between the reality show - attracted 5.24m (28.2%). Casualty took 5.4m (27.4%) at 9.30pm, after which the BBC News recorded 4.53m (26.9%).
Over on ITV1, The Whole 19 Yards slid to a disappointing 1.85m (13.7%) at the earlier time of 6pm, then the channel's three-hour coverage of the UEFA Champions League Final between Inter Milan and Bayern Munich could only manage 3.04m (16.1%). Soccer Aid: The Teams interested 1.56m (8.3%) at 10pm. The Prisoner, shunted to 10.30pm following its woeful figures of recent weeks, ended with 690k (4.4%).
Meanwhile, 1.79m (8.5%) and 1.26m (7.4%) watched Have I Got A Bit More News For You and I'm A Rock 'n' Roll Star on BBC Two, and The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring put in 1.25m (6.7%) for Channel 4. CSI: NY and Law & Order scored 1.4m (6.6%) and 1.03m (6%) for Five.
Overall, BBC One swept past ITV1 in primetime with an average share of 29.2% to 13.8%. Channel 4 was third with 6.3% (+1: 1.3%), followed by BBC Two with 7.2% and Five with 5.4%.
