'Amy's Choice' seen by 5.9 million

BBC One's Doctor Who equalled the previous week's series low on Saturday, May 15.

'Amy's Choice' - written by Men Behaving Badly writer Simon Nye - only managed 5.85m (31.2%) despite airing at the later time of 6.30pm.

Over The Rainbow was seen by 5.17m (26.2%) at 7.15pm, then The National Lottery: In It To Win It had 4.12m (18.4%), with another 4.68m (20.1%) tuning in for the draws. Casualty averaged a steady 5.39m (25%) from 9pm, after which a repeat of Live at the Apollo entertained 3.63m (18.9%).

Britain's Got Talent was once again the night's most-watched programme, with a typically strong 9.53m (42.9%) for ITV1 from 8pm. Earlier on the channel, a special edition of You've Been Framed amused 4.04m (23.5%) at 6pm, and The Whole 19 Yards averaged 4.14m (21.5%) at 7pm. The Prisoner, which followed Got Talent, put in a lacklustre 1.35m (6.4%), losing out to Britain's Got More Talent's 1.4m (6.6%) on ITV2.

BBC Two's extended version of Have I Got News For You logged 2.42m (11.2%), Channel 4's screening of Die Hard pulled in 1.66m (9.1%), and CSI: NY was Five's highest-rated programme of the night, with 1.83m (8.5%).

Overall, BBC One secured a surprise primetime victory over ITV1, with 22.5% to 20.6%. BBC Two was third with 7.1%, and Channel 4 and Five followed with 6% (+1: 0.9%) and 5.8% respectively.

Elsewhere, ITV1's coverage of the FA Cup Final averaged 3.6m (32.2%) between 1.15pm and 5.30pm, peaking with 6.49m (48.2%) at 4.30pm.
