Matt Smith has said that media stories about his personal life will not affect his decision to stay on Doctor Who.

Since he succeeded David Tennant as the Doctor, several articles have been written about Smith's romantic life, with many linking him to model Daisy Lowe.

Asked if such attention could cause him to quit the role, Smith told DS: "I think they're two completely separate things.

"I'm only focused on going back and shooting the Christmas episode and doing that to the best of my ability. That's where my energy lies, and my intention and focus."

Smith recently revealed that he would be interested in working with Ian McKellen and writers Simon Stephens and Joe Pennal in future on Doctor Who.
