Veteran costume designer Barbara Kidd is to return to work on Doctor Who.

Kidd, who won an Emmy Award for 'Outstanding Costumes' on Little Dorrit, previously worked on the sci-fi series during her early career.

She is credited as having designed costumes for episodes featuring Jon Pertwee, Tom Baker and Peter Davison.

The Bafta winner's agent confirmed on her website that Kidd will design for "series six and [the] Christmas special".

The listing also announced the return of Sanne Wahlenberg, who has worked on shows including Wallander, Murphy's Law and as a producer for Steven Moffat's first Christmas special.

Matt Smith previously revealed that The Doctor will have a new outfit for the 2011 series.
