'Doctor Who' boss Steven Moffat 'has no plans to leave'

Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat has insisted that he has "no immediate plans" to leave the show.

Moffat replaced Russell T Davies as the show's head writer and executive producer in 2010 and also works on the BBC's Sherlock.

"I haven't got any kind of plans to leave," he told AOL TV. "I take it one [season] at a time."

The Adventures of Tintin scribe described his role on Doctor Who as "astonishing" and "an incredible workload".

"To have that and to have Sherlock, yeah, it's savage," he admitted. "I'd like to get out before it kills me. But it's not killing me at the moment. I'm loving doing it, so I have no immediate plans to leave."

Moffat added that he wants to ensure Doctor Who is "looked after" once he eventually departs.

"You don't want to be the last one [who works on it]," he said. "I want it to go on and triumph long after I stop."

Doctor Who continues this Saturday at 7pm on BBC One and at 9/8c on BBC America.
